Information
For
over 100 years, the National League of Postmasters has been working
to address the needs of America's Postmasters. The League was
originally organized to protect Postmasters from the political
"spoils system" formerly used to appoint and dismiss
Postmasters based on political affiliation. As a result of the
League's efforts, all Postmasters now enjoy the security of job
protection under the Merit Systems Protection Board process.
Membership in the League is open to all Postmasters,
Officers-in-Charge, Postmaster Replacements and Retired Postmasters.
Family members are encouraged to be involved in the League through
membership in the Postmasters' Auxiliary and the youth
"B.R.A.T.S." organization -- "Bringing Real Attributes
to Society."
The League offers a variety of programs to enhance your opportunity
for a fulfilling and successful career in the United States Postal
Service. Professional development seminars and training sessions
conducted by industry professionals are offered at local, state, area
and national meetings.
As a member of the League, you will regularly receive information on
League activities, meetings and conventions within your state and
area. The Postmasters Advocate magazine and the Postmasters Advocate
Express newsletter keep members informed of the important work
accomplished by the League and report on the latest legislative and
postal news. The League Hotline (703-683-0549) and Website www.postmasters.org
also provide valuable information to Postmasters.
The 27,000 members of today's National League of Postmasters are
proud of its long and illustrious history, proud of its role in
helping to build and protect our nation and proud to be Postmasters.
We invite you to join the League family and actively participate in
our efforts to ensure your success as a Postmaster!
